Indiana Association of Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Indiana PHCC is a not for profit trade association that represents the professional plumbing-heating-cooling contractor and affiliated manufacturers and suppliers in the state of Indiana.
The mission of the Indiana Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (IAPHCC) is to advance member success by enhancing professionalism through education and training, and to provide leadership for the industry.
PHCC is the national trade association representing nearly 5,000 union and non-union plumbing, heating, and cooling contractors throughout the United States. Indiana serves as a state association within the federation. The national office was founded in 1883 and the Indiana association was formed in 1897.
Indiana has nine chapters: Fort Wayne PHCC, Greater Indianapolis PHCC, PHCC-North Central Indiana Assn., Northwest Indiana PHCC, South Central PHCC, South Central PHCC, Southwestern PHCC, St. Joe Valley PHCC and West Central IN PHCC. Local chapters are the grass roots of the organization and provide the primary contact with the member.
Our plumbing contractor members have been trained through an apprentice program approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, a division of the United States Department of Labor and the Indiana Plumbing Commission. Up to four years in apprenticeship is required to become a licensed journeyman. An additional two years working for a licensed contractor is required in order to take the state examination to qualify for a contractor license. A contracting firm offering services to the public must have at least one member holding a Contractor license. The license number must be displayed in the office, on the vehicle, and in all advertising.
Both our plumbing and HVAC contractors continue to receive training at meetings and our annual statewide convention.
